Sarah Nishioka

Preventing Targeted Violence Intern

Sarah Nishioka serves as a Preventing Targeted Violence (PTV) intern at the McCain Institute at Arizona State University. She is a senior at California State University Fullerton pursuing a B.A. in political science with an interest in diplomacy, international development, and humanitarian intervention and response.

Before working at the McCain Institute, Sarah previously served as an intern and a youth advisor for Congresswoman Katie Porter of California’s 117th District. She also served as a national security strategy intern for the American Security Project (ASP), where she published articles on Ethiopia’s conflict with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), coup contagion in Africa and the conflict in Yemen.

Sarah enjoys reading, podcasts and rock climbing in her free time. She is looking forward to supporting the PTV team in their outstanding work and expanding her knowledge on targeted violence.
