Betsy Gehring

Chief Operating Officer

Betsy Gehring joined the McCain Institute in January 2017 and serves as the chief operating officer. She has primary responsibility for all financial management and budget oversight and balancing the McCain Institute’s programmatic priorities and strategic directives with resources.

Focused on the optimization of day-to-day operations as well as the cross-functional needs of the McCain Institute, she works hand-in-hand with programmatic teams as well as communications and development. Dedicated to both the McCain Institute and the staff’s growth and success, she creates optimal operating structures to enhance programs and improve revenue streams.

Prior to joining the Institute, Betsy served as the director of delegate services for the 2016 Republican National Convention. She spent 20+ years in political and nonprofit fundraising, served as executive director for the March of Dimes and executive director of The President’s Dinner Committee as well as senior roles in health care and education over the course of her career.

Betsy has lived all over the U.S. and abroad. From Texas to California, Costa Rica to Washington, D.C. she considers many places home. She is a certified Hospice care volunteer with nearly 10 years of service.
