Abigail Bergan

McCain Institute Junior Fellow

Abigail Bergan is a rising senior at Duke University studying Public Policy, Political Science, and Arabic; her interests are primarily in national security and defense. She conducts research on the U.S. military and civil-military relations and serves as Co-Chair of the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy, Duke’s premier foreign policy program. Furthermore, her senior thesis focuses on the integration of women into the Army special operations enterprise.

Prior to the McCain Institute, Abigail has spent summers living and working across the Middle East, studying Arabic in Morocco and Egypt and teaching English in the Sultanate of Oman. Additionally, this summer Abigail will be participating in the War Studies Program at the Hertog Foundation and the Hoover Institution’s Summer Policy Boot Camp at Stanford University.

In her free time, Abigail enjoys traveling, running, and reading. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career somewhere in the realm of military, defense, and security policy.
