Event Summary

On Tuesday, November 18, 2014 the McCain Institute hosted the second installment of our Human Trafficking Conversation Series, “In Our Backyard,” a discussion on current issues concerning human trafficking in the United States – how far the country has come, how much work is yet to be done and ways to eliminate it. The event featured a conversation between Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Yiota Souras, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Mrs. Cindy McCain served as moderator.

The McCain Institute’s commitment to strengthening character-driven global leadership is reflected in its own efforts to support humanitarian action. Mrs. McCain is a member of the McCain Institute’s Advisory Council on human trafficking, which includes several notable members of the public committed to the fight against modern day slavery.
