Arizona State University’s Cronkite School’s Hubert H. Humphrey fellows and American University’s Human Rights fellows visited the McCain Institute for a panel and Q&A session.

Ambassador Kurt Volker, Executive Director of the McCain Institute welcomed the group and fielded questions for the first portion of the visit before turning it over to the Institute’s Senior Director of Communications Luke Knittig, moderator of the panel of three McCain Institute program leads: Cyril Bumbalek (Senior Fellow, Counterterrorism & National Security), Paul Fagan (Director, Human Rights & Democracy Program) and Rachel Hunkler (Program Manager, Next Generation Leaders Program). The panelists discussed highlights in their respective programs, efforts to spark conversations internationally about human rights and leadership, and answered questions about current international events.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in Journalism at ASU program, in partnership with the U.S. State Department and the Institute of International Education, brings accomplished, often award-winning, mid-career professionals from emerging democracies to the United States for an intensive, 10-month academic study and professional experience.
