Kelsey Syms serves as the combatting human trafficking program assistant at the McCain Institute for International Leadership. As the program assistant, she supports the Combatting Human Trafficking team to further the Institute’s efforts to eliminate all forms of modern slavery.

Prior to joining the McCain Institute, Syms was the undergrad intern for the Department of Justice in the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section. Her primary focus was on human trafficking cases, as well as Operation Cross Country XI, the FBI’s operation targeting human trafficking.

Originally from Sun Valley, Idaho, Syms holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Colorado – Boulder and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Applied Leadership and Management from Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management.
