Staci McDermott is the assistant director of communications for the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. In this role, she works closely with senior leadership and the program staff to design, create and execute communications, events and media strategies dedicated to advancing the Institute’s mission and brand.

McDermott previously was a brand manager at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., where she developed, executed and evaluated internal and external communication strategies to engage stakeholders and strengthen the Phoenix Children’s brand. Prior to this, she was a sports writer for the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. and Larson Newspapers in Sedona, Ariz., and a broadcast intern for KCNC-TV in Denver, Colo.

McDermott graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and technical communication and a minor in history from Colorado State University. Raised in Tucson, Ariz., she currently resides in Alexandria, Va.
