Bomi Akarakiri

Bomi Akarakiri serves as the Spring 2024 junior fellow for the Leadership Program at the McCain Institute. Bomi is in her junior year at Howard University, majoring in political science and minoring in atrategic, legal, management communications. Upon graduation, Bomi intends to enroll in a master’s in international affairs program in either D.C. or New York.

Bomi was born in New Jersey but grew up in London before moving to the D.C. – Maryland area. She has completed over 10 internships since freshman year, ranging from positions on Capitol Hill to campaigns and law firms. Bomi aspires to have a career in foreign policy, taking a particular interest in U.K.-U.S. relations and Africa due to her background.

In her spare time, Bomi enjoys reading nonfiction books and watching documentaries (or reality TV, as there is no in-between!). She resides on campus, where she runs a hair braiding and styling business.
