Sarah Gechter

Sarah Gechter, a driven student and dynamic leader, is a senior at George Washington University. Sarah is passionate about advancing U.S. national security objectives, leveraging skills in strategic rapprochement and crisis management to mitigate transnational threats. At the McCain Institute, Sarah is a National Security & Counterterrorism junior fellow, working to support a cohort of Five Eyes intelligence community professionals.

She holds two additional internships concurrent to her work at the McCain Institute. Sarah is a gaming and research intern at the National Defense University, developing and facilitating crisis simulations for military leadership. She is also a global new business intern at consulting firm APCO Worldwide. She holds previous experience in government contracting, and has served as the president of GW’s Model United Nations team. Professional experience has exemplified Sarah as innovative in problem solving and poised in negotiations. She is charismatic by nature and fluent in oral communication.

Sarah has received commendations from President Biden as a “trailblazer” at the White House and is a champion for women’s education and entrepreneurship. Her linguistic studies in Mandarin, Arabic, and Spanish facilitate cross-cultural dialogue, underscoring her mature global perspective. In May 2024, Sarah will graduate from the George Washington University as a presidential scholar with a B.A. in international affairs, a B.A. in political science, and a minor in communication. Sarah is a lifelong reader, active volunteer, and empathetic friend dedicated to making meaningful contributions in international affairs. She is excited to bring her authenticity, passion, and curiosity to the McCain Institute.
