Josinta Tillett

New Zealand Police

Josinta is an Intelligence Manager at New Zealand Police. She has led teams at district, regional and national levels. Her teams interpret, understand and analyse crime and harm across nearly all policing problems, routinely informing and influencing decision makers at all levels. As the current National Manager: Tactical Intelligence, she is responsible for the on-going success of the staff safety-focussed Tactical Intelligence capability for Police. This capability is a core part of the Tactical Response Model – a system designed to enhance the safety of frontline police, and one that is intelligence-led. Josinta has had significant experience leading intelligence teams during major events or operations, including the 2019 Christchurch terrorist attack, the 2022 Parliamentary protest and ground occupation, the 2023 Cyclone Gabrielle Response, as well as the policing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Josinta commenced her career in the New Zealand intelligence community as an analyst. During this time, she worked across various teams covering a range of topic areas, providing reporting that influenced a variety of decision makers, domestically and internationally.

She is a Senior Board member of the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals – doing her part to grow a connected and skilled intelligence community in New Zealand. She holds a Master of International Security in Intelligence, and has published in the New Zealand National Security Journal.

Josinta runs, speaks Spanish and is a dedicated aunty.
