Associate for the Democracy Communications Collaborative
Madeline (Maddie) Harty is a democracy support practitioner with experience in national security, election administration, and international governance. She is currently an Associate for the Democracy Communications Collaborative at Third Plateau, a network of more than 125 pro‑democracy organizations across the ideological spectrum that builds durable public support for democracy through communications.
Previously, Harty consulted for International IDEA, contributing research and publications on the impact of natural hazards on elections. She also spent four years in the federal government, managing personnel deployments to the Middle East and assisting with intelligence briefs.
Harty received a Master of Arts in International Security from the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her academic work spans research on African state security forces, civilian protection in armed conflict, and the geopolitical significance of foreign leader travel.
