Akihisa Shiozaki

Member, House of Representatives, Japan

Akihisa Shiozaki is a Member of Japan’s House of Representatives and currently serves as Parliamentary Countermeasures Vice Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). He previously held office as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Shiozaki is recognized for his leadership in advancing Japan’s digital and innovation agenda, with a particular focus on AI and healthcare policy. He was the lead author of the LDP’s landmark AI White Paper (2023), which laid the foundation for Japan’s current AI strategy, and played a central role in the Hiroshima AI Process (2023) and Japan’s AI Promotion Act (2025).

Before entering politics, he built a distinguished career as a lawyer, earning Compliance/Investigations Lawyer of the Year at the Asian Legal Awards (2017). He also served as a senior policy advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office under the first Abe administration (2006–2007).

Shiozaki holds an LL.B. from the University of Tokyo, an M.A. in International Policy from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was elected class president.
