Amb. David Pressman

United States Ambassador to Hungary

Ambassador David Pressman was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Hungary on August 8, 2022. He was previously the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for Special Political Affairs, where he represented the United States on the United Nations Security Council. Earlier, Ambassador Pressman was Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, leading the Office of Policy Development. He previously served at the White House as Director for War Crimes and Atrocities on the National Security Council, and at the Department of State as an aide to Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright. A prominent international human rights and national security lawyer, Ambassador Pressman has represented victims of terrorism, hostages held overseas, and dissidents targeted by authoritarian regimes. In private practice, he chaired the international practice group of one of the United States’ largest law firms. Ambassador Pressman graduated from Brown University and New York University School of Law.
