Youssef Karrakchou is a democracy and governance professional with eight years of experience managing programs for the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Morocco. After earning a bachelor degree in business, Youssef began his career in the entrepreneurship field. However, he pivoted from his career in business towards governance after being nominated to run as a candidate for local elections in his country. Youssef works in some of the most marginalized parts of Morocco, leveraging grassroots activism with new skills and ideas from IRI’s global network. He empowers Moroccans to raise their voice to participate in decision making and governance. Youssef has a proven ability to direct and evaluate regional and country-specific programming overseas and inspires others with his leadership. His technical expertise encompasses election and political party capacity strengthening, grassroots mobilization, and youth and women driven development.
