Alex is an Australian national security professional with experience in analytic and policy roles across the Department of Defence,
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Office of National Intelligence. He has worked as an analyst with a focus on Afghanistan and Southeast Asia, has led the provision of advice on whole of government national security budget proposals and has drafted national security cabinet submissions. Alex was previously the Commissioning Editor of the Australian Institute of International Affairs Australian Outlook publication. He holds a Master of International Relations and a Bachelor of Arts (History and International Relations) from the University of Melbourne.
