Ruby is a Senior Advisor in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s National Security Group. She leads a programme of
work to manage New Zealand’s National Intelligence Security Priorities – the New Zealand Government’s key areas of focus for national security and intelligence agencies. Her work has a particular focus on strengthening the integration of intelligence with policy to provide decision makers with relevant and timely advice. This includes managing complex national security and intelligence issues at a system level.
Ruby holds the role of co-secretariat for the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals, whose members work across a diverse field of national security areas, with an overarching aim to shape intelligence pathways in New Zealand. In this capacity, Ruby is undertaking work to strengthen diversity and inclusion in the intelligence sector. Ruby has previously held roles at the British High Commission in New Zealand, working within trade and policy areas. Ruby is an enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and has published in the New Zealand Journal of Public and International Law. She has a First-Class Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Arts Double Major in Spanish and International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She speaks Spanish and Te Reo Māori.
