Olympic Gold Medalist
Keiji Suzuki is a former Japanese judoka and Olympic champion, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished heavyweight competitors in the history of judo. Born in 1980, he rose through Japan’s elite judo system and achieved international acclaim for his powerful yet highly technical style. Suzuki won the gold medal in the men’s +100 kg category at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and became World Champion in 2003. He also captured multiple national titles, including victory at the prestigious All-Japan Judo Championships, demonstrating his dominance across weight divisions.
Following his retirement from elite competition, Suzuki transitioned into coaching and education. He is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Physical Education at Kokushikan University, where he is involved in teaching, research, and the development of high-level judo athletes. In parallel, he is the founder of the Keiji Judo Academy, through which he shares his expertise with judoka of all levels, emphasizing technical mastery, discipline, and the core values of judo.
