Lieutenant (LT) James Eggers grew up in New Jersey, attended Northeastern University (majoring in International Relations), and completed a Master of Science in Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Coast Guard, he served as an educational consultant, a member of Teach for America, and completed a Fulbright Scholarship. He joined the Coast Guard's Deployable Specialized Forces (Maritime Security Response Team) and deployed numerous times throughout the Pacific and Central America as an Assault Force Commander. His teams seized more than 15,000 kilograms of narcotics, detained dozens of transnational criminal actors and disrupted human trafficking efforts. He was twice recognized for life-saving efforts. More recently, LT Eggers served as the Coast Guard's Governmental Affairs Liaison to Customs and Border Protection. LT Eggers is currently completing two additional advanced education programs: A Master of Arts degree in Defense & Strategic Studies at the Naval War College, and a Master of Science in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies with a certification in Human Performance Technology at Florida State University.
