Public Policy Professional
Menghun Kaing is a public policy professional focused on technology, media and governance. Most recently as a senior program officer at Internews, Menghun developed partnerships in the US and provided strategic planning and program management of the Asia-Pacific portfolio, including overseeing programs and team members in Cambodia, Thailand and India. At the Asia Foundation in Cambodia, Menghun designed and implemented economic development initiatives, including leading TEK4Good, the Foundation’s business incubation program for technology startups. She is a recipient of the Asia Foundation’s presidential award for exceptional performance. Menghun has also served as a World Bank consultant with a focus on public finance management. She began her career as a journalist with the Cambodia Daily newspaper. Menghun grew up in rural Cambodia and is the first woman in her family to complete high school. Menghun holds a M.A. in International Development and Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a B.S. in Computer Science from the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Her work has been published in the Washington Post, The Diplomat, Asia Times, and other publications.
