Kingdom of Bhutan
Sonam Tobgay has been serving in Bhutan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for almost three decades and is currently the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Australia. He has also had diplomatic postings in Geneva, Kuwait, New York and New Delhi and has acquired extensive diplomatic skills in human rights, development, trade, health and aid mobilization. He has been the focal point for the presentation of several of Bhutan’s reports to UN human rights organizations. Sonam seeks to advance the interests of Bhutan in Australia and the Pacific region.
Sonam was a McCain Fellow in 2014-2015 when he spent the year at the Office of the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, where he was part of a team engaging in grassroots democracy.
