Wood is a detective assigned to the Sex Crimes Unit of Criminal Investigations with the Gila River Police Department.  She handles both sex crimes against adults and crimes against children.  Along with this position, she has over 15 years of law enforcement experience  in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and has served as the Executive Protection Agent for the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice-President.  Wood seeks to ensure that Indian Country receives centralized, locally specific data to develop culturally-appropriate policies and training for tribal communities to improve their capabilities to combat human trafficking and exploitation.
