Ugbad Ahmed Hashi is a senior lecturer at the University of Hargeisa and founder of the Somali Women Empowerment Platform. Ugbad is human rights and women’s rights activist for the last 10 years and worked on programs empowering Somali women. Ugbad advocates the rights of girls and women to get representation in higher positions and empowers them educationally, socially, economically, and politically. Ugbad as well advocates endorsing laws and policies protecting Somali women from violence, abuse, and harm. Ugbad has a double master’s degree in development studies and educational management, and leadership, postgraduate in education and teaching, and a bachelor’s degree in economics.
