WASHINGTON D.C. (July 28, 2026) – McCain Institute Senior Director for Human Rights & Freedom Amy O’Neill Richard joined a bipartisan panel on combating international human trafficking. The discussion brought together the Combating Human Trafficking Congressional Caucus and leading stakeholders to discuss partnerships, prevention, protection, and prosecution.
Co-Chairs of the Combating Human Trafficking Congressional Caucus, Representative David Valadao (R-C.A.) and Representative Lucy McBath (D-G.A.), along with founding member Representative Vince Fong (R-C.A.), gave opening remarks. Anti-trafficking experts Amy O’Neill Richard, McCain Institute; Aram Schvey, Protect All Children From Trafficking; Hannah Chargin, World Vision; Nate King, International Justice Mission; Samantha Calero, Covenant House International; and Tanya Gould, Hunt Alternatives; shared their respective work and best practices to combat human trafficking, including victim-centric and trauma-informed approaches to increasing accountability for traffickers.
“At the McCain Institute, we value partnerships with government leaders from both parties across U.S. government agencies, those with lived experience, and other leaders in civil society, private sector, academia, faith-based organizations, and beyond,” said Richard, “We are better together; regardless of the sector, we don’t have the luxury to say we give up [the fight against human trafficking].”
