Raul Romero is the Human Rights & Democracy program intern at the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. Over the past few of years, he has interned at the Venezuelan Interim Government Embassy in the United States and has carried out research and developed policy recommendations to bring about liberty in the South American country.

Raul is a junior at Kenyon College where he is currently pursuing a B.A. in International Studies with a focus on development in China and Latin America. As a young leader in Venezuela, he participated in the democracy protests in 2014 and worked alongside members of the Baruta City Hall in Caracas to draft legislation and create a Youth Municipal Government. As the situation in Venezuela deteriorated, Romero sought opportunities abroad and received a scholarship to attend an international high school and later college in the United States.
