WASHINGTON (December 17, 2015) – The McCain Institute is pleased to announce that Senator Joseph Lieberman and GEN David Petraeus, USA (Ret.) have joined the Institute’s Board of Trustees.

“Senator Lieberman and General Petraeus bring an enormous wealth of experience in American foreign and national security strategy, and will further add to the stature and reach of our Board of Trustees,” said Amb. Kurt Volker, Executive Director of The McCain Institute. “We look forward to benefitting from their insights and efforts going forward.”

A candidate for both president and vice president of the United States, Senator Lieberman served as a member of the United States Senate for 24 years. At the end of his service in January 2013, he was chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and a senior member of the Armed Services Committee. He now serves as senior counsel at the law firm of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres and Friedman in New York. Read his full bio here.

GEN Petraeus, USA (Ret.) served over 37 years in the U.S. military, including as commander of coalition forces in Iraq, commanding general of U.S. Central Command, and commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan.
